It was an honour to lay a wreath at All Saints Church, Odd Rode, on behalf of Congleton constituency councillors Liz Wardlaw and Patrick Redstone, during this year’s Remembrance service.
The service brought together local residents, veterans, and community representatives to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of our country. Their courage and devotion remind us that the freedoms, peace, and democracy we enjoy today were secured through immense personal cost.
Speaking after the service, Sean Houlston said:
“Remembrance Sunday is a powerful moment to pause and reflect on the price of freedom. We owe a great debt to those who served, fought, and gave their lives so that we may live in liberty. Their legacy endures not just in our history, but in the values we uphold as a nation.”
The wreath was laid on behalf of Councillors Liz Wardlaw and Patrick Redstone, who serve the Odd Rode ward within the Congleton constituency. Both continue to represent their community with dedication and pride, ensuring that the memory of those who served is never forgotten.
As the nation marked Remembrance Sunday, Odd Rode joined communities across the country in reaffirming a shared commitment to peace, unity, and remembrance.
We will remember them.
