Sean Houlston appointed Trustee of The Learning Partnership during national Trustees’ Week

As Trustees’ Week is celebrated across the UK, recognising the vital role trustees play in supporting schools, charities and communities, Sean Houlston has been appointed as a Trustee of The Learning Partnership – a leading multi-academy trust supporting schools across Cheshire.

This appointment marks a new chapter in Sean’s long-standing contribution to education. Over the past six years, he has served as a school governor and vice chair at Sir William Stanier School in Crewe – the school he attended – and most recently as Chair of Governors at Shavington Primary School, where he led the governing board through a period of growth and development, securing a positive Ofsted report.

Reflecting on the announcement, Sean said:

“It’s been a privilege to serve the schools that shaped my own education. Being a governor has given me a deep appreciation of the hard work and dedication that goes into making every school the best it can be. Trustees’ Week is a chance to celebrate that spirit of service and collaboration. I’m honoured to continue supporting education in Cheshire as a Trustee of The Learning Partnership, helping to guide its vision and champion opportunities for young people.”

Trustees’ Week (3–7 November 2025) highlights the remarkable contribution of more than one million trustees across the country. Their work ensures good governance, accountability and ambition within organisations that make a difference to people’s lives every day.

Sean’s appointment reflects his ongoing commitment to education, skills, and community leadership, and builds upon his professional and voluntary efforts to strengthen opportunities for young people in the region.
