Sean Houlston, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Runcorn and Helsby, has backed a new road safety plan for Moore which includes the installation of a crossing to protect both schoolchildren and local wildlife.
Sean recently met with local Councillor for Daresbury, Moore and Sandymoor, Sian Davidson, to discuss key projects and concerns affecting the community. Among the top priorities was the need to address road safety in Moore, particularly around areas used by families and frequented by wildlife.
The proposed crossing would be located on Runcorn Road where speeding vehicles have posed an increasing danger. Local residents have reported that ducks are frequently hit by cars in the area, and there is growing concern for the safety of children walking to and from school.
Sean Houlston, Conservative Candidate for Runcorn and Helsby, said:
“From protecting green spaces to tackling speeding, these issues matter deeply to residents. Addressing them requires teamwork between the next Member of Parliament and our local councillors.
“I’m proud to be working with Cllr Sian Davidson to support a safer future for Moore. This is about protecting what matters most – our children, our community, and the unique character of our local area. No one wants to see wildlife harmed or worry about the safety of their children on the walk to school.”
Cllr Sian Davidson, Councillor for Daresbury, Moore and Sandymoor, added:
“Residents have raised concerns for some time about road safety in Moore, particularly the need for a safe crossing. Ducks are regularly struck by vehicles, and with families using this route daily, we need urgent action.
“I’m pleased to be working with Sean to push for practical solutions that will make a real difference. Together, we’re focused on delivering positive change for the people of Moore.”
