Sean Houlston has thanked local Conservatives for their “sheer determination and belief” following the Runcorn and Helsby by-election, speaking at a thank-you event and the Weaver Vale Conservative Federation AGM.
“We spoke to thousands of voters across the constituency — including over 1,000 in a single day with a small but determined team. That’s what real grassroots campaigning looks like.”
Despite limited resources, the local Conservative campaign ran at full pace from start to finish, with volunteers delivering leaflets, knocking on doors, and raising key local issues with energy and commitment.
“This was local politics at its best — friends, neighbours and councillors coming together to fight for the communities they care about.”
Looking ahead, Sean urged the membership to focus on optimism, unity and competence.
“Voters want direction and belief. We must be the party of aspiration and enterprise — and we need to campaign like professionals. With the right energy and purpose, we can recover and win again.”
