The Congleton Conservative Association has successfully held its first ever Spring Dinner, marking the start of a new season of events and engagement for members, supporters and those interested in getting involved locally.
The event was hosted by Deputy Chairman Sean Houlston, who organised the evening as part of the Association’s renewed programme of activity designed to strengthen local campaigning and bring members together ahead of important elections across Cheshire.
Held at De Vere Cranage Estate, the dinner brought members and guests together from across the area for a well supported and enjoyable occasion that raised significant funds to support campaigning ahead of the Cheshire East local elections next year and to back Ben Fletcher in his campaign to become the first Mayor of Cheshire and Warrington. The venue also held a personal connection for Sean, who began his working life there earlier in his career.
The dinner celebrated the very best of Cheshire’s local produce, with a menu featuring vegetables sourced from Lowe's Farm Shop and bread from W. Mandeville Bakery, reflecting pride in supporting local suppliers and showcasing the strength of the county’s rural and food economy.
Guests heard from Wendy Morton, Shadow Foreign Office Minister and former Cabinet Minister, who delivered an engaging speech reflecting on national politics and the importance of strong local Conservative Associations. Ben Fletcher also addressed the dinner, setting out his vision for Cheshire and Warrington and his priorities around stronger town centres, sensible development, safer communities and economic growth.
The Spring Dinner marks the beginning of a wider programme of events planned over the coming months, as the Association looks to welcome new members, reconnect with supporters and grow its local campaigning team ahead of important elections across the area.
Sean Houlston, Deputy Chairman of Congleton Conservative Association, said:
“Our first Spring Dinner was a real success and a fantastic way to bring members and supporters together. It was especially fitting that the evening celebrated Cheshire as well, with locally sourced produce from businesses like Lowe’s Farm Shop and W. Mandeville’s.
"The funds raised on the night will go directly into supporting our local election campaigns and Ben Fletcher’s mayoral campaign. Just as importantly, the dinner marks the start of a summer of activity where we want more people to get involved locally.
"Strong local associations are built by people stepping forward, and we are always keen to welcome new members and supporters who want to play a role in shaping the future of Congleton and Cheshire.”
Further events are planned in the months ahead as part of a growing programme designed to bring members, supporters and residents together and build momentum ahead of the elections.
