South Cheshire’s business community was in the spotlight this week as employers, apprentices and training partners gathered for the Chamber’s annual Business Awards, supported by award sponsor Reaseheath College. The event brought together firms from across Crewe, Nantwich and the surrounding villages to celebrate achievement, ambition and the continued contribution of local industry to the area’s growth.
One of the evening’s standout moments was the announcement of Sophie from Bentley Motors as Apprentice of the Year 2025. Her success was met with warm applause from employers and guests, recognising both her hard work and the strength of the apprenticeship opportunities available in South Cheshire.
Sean Houlston praised the quality of talent on display and highlighted the importance of supporting local skills and enterprise:
“South Cheshire businesses are something to be proud of. Events like this show the drive and determination that underpin our local economy — from apprentices taking their first steps, to employers investing in people and innovation. We should be backing them every step of the way."
The awards also underscored the crucial role of skills providers such as Reaseheath College, whose partnership with employers continues to shape a strong technical and vocational pipeline for the region. Many of the finalists credited the college and local training networks for helping young people access opportunities that lead directly to skilled careers.
